2011 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships
Ohio Northern junior Alison Steinbrunner
(New Carlisle/Tecumseh) earned
All-American status to help lead No. 14 Ohio Northern to a
19th place finish at the 2011 NCAA Division III
National Championship Meet on Saturday, November 19, at the Lake
Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis. Wisconsin-Oshkosh served as
the host school. The Polar Bears finished 19th of 32 teams with 453
points. Steinbrunner finished ninth out of 277 runners overall,
completing the 6,000-meter course in 21:12.99, five seconds faster
than her previous school record of 21:27. The effort marks the
second time that Steinbrunner has earned All-American honors with a
top-35 finish, as she crossed the line in 21st place as a sophomore
in 2010. Also representing ONU was junior Lydia Weaver
(Chillicothe/Zane Trace) in
129th place (22:30), senior Kelly Casanova
(Copley) in 150th place
(22:37), freshman Shayla Siefker
(Ottoville) in 167th place (22:42),
senior Mallory Bloom (Kenton) in 175th place
(22:46), senior Ashley Baumer
(Botkins) in 215th place
(23:15) and senior Amanda Binkey (Latrobe,
Pa.) placed 250th (23:44).
Also representing
the OAC, was Wilmington junior Annie Cekada (Mineral Point,
Pa./Central Cambria) in 145th place (22:35),
followed by Capital junior Emma McCarron
(Mansfield/Crestview) in 163rd place
(22:41). On the men’s side, Baldwin-Wallace junior
Kenneth Janosko (Mentor) placed 66th
(25:02), followed by Marietta junior Caleb Muller
(Columbus/Bexley) in 155th place
(25:05).
