Wilmington Set to Host 2012 OAC Cross Country Championships

Austintown, OH -- The 2012 Ohio
Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country
Championships will be hosted by Wilmington College on Saturday,
October 27. The men's 8K championship race will begin at 11a.m.,
while the women's 6K race will start at noon. The course is
located on campus.
The Ohio Northern Polar Bears swept the 2011 men's and
women's championship titles. It was the second consecutive title
for the women and the first title since 2008 for the men.
On the women's side, ONU finished with 35 points, followed by
John Carroll with 71 points, Wilmington with 102 points,
Baldwin-Wallace with 106 points and Mount Union with 132 points to
round out the top five.
The top-five finishers from a year ago will be returning. For
the third-straight season, Ohio Northern senior Alison
Steinbrunner earned the OAC Individual title by 21 seconds with a
time of 22:15.9. Marietta senior Reba Leonard finished second
overall in 22:36.5, followed by Wilmington senior Annie Cekada
in 22:42.4. Capital senior Emma McCarron crossed the finish
line in 22:47 for fourth place and John Carroll junior Gabriella
Kreuz finished fifth in 22:51.7.
On the men's side, Ohio Northern earned the top spot with 43
points. Mount Union came in second with 75 points, followed by John
Carroll with 89 points. Heidelberg (103) and Marietta (138) rounded
out the top five team finishes.
Marietta will look to senior Caleb Mueller, who claimed the
individual title (25:27.7). Also returning, BW senior Kenneth
Janosko who placed second (25:44.8), followed by ONU
sophomore Nathan Rosenbaum in fourth place (26:04.5) and
Mount Union junior Josh Clemence in fifth place (26:05.8).
