Otterbein's Bates and Denz Named Academic All-America

COMPLETE RELEASE

Otterbein seniors Emily Bates (New Concord/John Glenn) and Rachel Denz (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) have earned spots on the Capital One Academic All-America team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bates was chosen first team with a 4.00 GPA as a mathematics major, while Denz (Westerville/St. Francis DeSales) landed on the third team with 4.00 GPA in psychology.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have been chosen first-team academic all-district, be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director
