Fourteen Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships

Fourteen (7 women, 7 men) earned All-America honors at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships,  which was held March 9-10 at the Charles Benson Bear Recreation and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa. The top-eight in each event earn All-America honors.

On the women’s side, Mount Union junior Mary Mahoney (Ashtabula/St. John –St. Paul) was runner-up in the 400-meter dash (55.93). Mahoney also earned All-America honors with a fourth place finish in 4x400 meter relay, along with teammates junior Daryn Herman (Fairview Park) and sophomores Emily Mazzaferri (Canton/GlenOak) and Taylor Kring (Salem/West Branch).

Baldwin-Wallace freshman Danielle Torrence (Canton/South) finished third in the shot put with a career-best throw of 46-8.00.

Ohio Northern junior Alison Steinbrunner (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) captured fourth place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17.14.34.

Marietta senior Ashley Bault (Atwater/Waterloo) finished runner-up in the pentathlon (3,502) and finished seventh in the long jump (18-02.25) to earn All-America honors in both event. Her second place finished marks the best finish in program history.

On the Men’s side, Mount Union sophomore Sam Ludgood (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) placed seventh in the triple jump (48-0.5).

Baldwin-Wallace sophomore Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) placed fourth in heptathlon with 4,928 points.

Ohio Northern senior Dan Smith (Avon) took home fifth place in the mile run with a time of 4:08.63.

Heidelberg junior Nate Davis (Dayton/Stivers) and senior Joe Yoder (West Liberty/ West Liberty Salem) each earned All-America honors. Davis cleared 6-11.00 to secure second place in the high jump. Yoder tallied 4, 768 to place seventh in the heptathlon.

Otterbein senior Austin Curbow (Gahanna) earned his third All-America honor with a third place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.05).

John Carroll junior Mike Minjock (Seven Hills/St. Ignatius) placed seventh in the long the long jump (7.05).
