Otterbein Set to Host 2013 OAC Cross Country Championships

Austintown, OH -- The 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday, November 2. The women's 6K championship race will begin at 11a.m., while the men's 8K race will start at noon. The  top-18 finishers will receive All-OAC honors. The first nine will be named first team and nine-18 will be named second team.

This cross country season has been dedicated to Wilmington junior Jenna Parlette. The Conference produced wristbands for every OAC cross country runner that will say #JennaStrong on them to wear while competing. They are purple, the color that signifies the fight against epilepsy. The wristbands will be highlighted at the OAC Championships.

The Ohio Northern Polar Bears claimed the women's championship title with 48 points, followed by Mount Union with 57 points, John Carroll with 67 points, Wilmington with 136 points and Otterbein rounded out the top five with 139 points. This was ONU's third consecutive, seventh overall title.

ONU placed five in the top-18 a year ago and will return junior Catie Huber (Findlay), who placed 12th (24:17.1)

On the men's side, Mount Union claimed it 26th overall championship title with 40 points, followed by Ohio Northern with 71 points, John Carroll with 89 points, Wilmington with 117points and Muskingum with127 points.

Mount Union placed six in the top-18 a year ago and will return five of them. The Purple Raiders will looks to senior Josh Clemence (Akron/Firestone)who placed third (25:56.5), followed by sophomore Alex Wilson (Macedonia/Nordonia) in fourth place (25:56.7), senior Nate Grimm (Lisbon/Leetonia) in fifth place (26:01.2), junior Nick Banks (Bay Village) in 12th place (26:18.1) and senior Jacob Boyer who finished 18th (26:22.6).
