Calvin College hosted the 2013 NCAA III Great Lakes
Regional Cross Country Championships today (November 16).
Mount Union led the OAC with a fifth place finish with
174 points, followed by John Carroll in 9th (232 points), Otterbein
in 11th place (307 points), Heidelberg in 13th place (364 points),
Ohio Northern in 17th place (474 points), Muskingum in 21st place
(644 points) and Baldwin Wallace in 22nd place (648 points).
Heidleberg senior Sophie Goobic (Canton, NY/Hugh C.
Williams) was the top OAC finisher wtih a time of 21:52.7 for
sixth place overall. Goobic is automatically qualified
for next week's NCAA III Championships in Hanover,
Indiana
The top two teams from each region will gain automatic
qualifying spots for the NCAA III Championships. All other teams
are eligible for an at-large team bid which will
be extended later this weekend. Both the men's and women's
NCAA III Championships field will include 16 at-large berths. Also,
seven individual qualifying spots for both the men's and the
women's races are up for grabs for runners that are not on teams
earning berths in the NCAA III Championships.
