Complete AP Little All-America Team
Mount Union senior defensive lineman Matt Fechko
(Twinsburg) and junior quarterback Kevin Burke
(Westlake/Lakewood St. Edward) and John Carroll junior
placekicker Kresimir Ivkovic (Euclid/Lake Catholic)
have been named to the Associated Press Little
All-America Team.
The AP Little All-America team honors the top football
players in Division II, III and NAIA.
Fechko was named to the first team. He has started all 14 games
and was awarded Ohio Athletic Conference's Paul Hoernemann Award as
the conference's top defensive lineman this season. He has 40
tackles, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble. That forced fumble came on
a sack in this past week's NCAA Playoff semifinal against North
Central.
Burke was named to the third team after winning the Gagliardi
Trophy as the top all-around player in NCAA Division III football
last night. He has led an offense that is currently the nation's
top scoring offense as the Raiders are 14-0, ranked No. 1 in the
nation, and won their 22nd straight OAC title. Mount Union
takes on UW-Whitewater in the Stagg Bowl Friday at 7 pm in Salem,
Virginia.
Burke is the nation's No. 1 rated passer and leads the
nation with 44 touchdown passes. He has completed 63-percent of his
passes (212-of-337) for 3,514 yards while he is also the team's
second leading rusher with 904 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
His 1,035 rushing yards is a school single season record for a
quarterback.
Ivkovic earned second team honors. He is a Fred Mitchell
Award finalist as one of nation's top collegiate placekickers.
This season, Ivkovic nailed a school-record 20 field goals on
a school-record 24 attempts. Additionally, the 20 made field goals
tied the 23-year old Ohio Athletic Conference record. The junior
leads Division III for most field goals made per game as well as
most total field goals. Ivkovic was a perfect 57-of-57 on extra
point conversions with both numbers setting single-season John
Carroll football records.
