Three Named to All-Great Lakes Region Team; Mount Union's Ruffin Rookie Of The Year

Three men's basketball players have been named to the 2013
D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Team. Mount Union's Jarrett
Ruffin was chosen as the Great Lakes Region Rookie of the Year.
Capital senior Spencer Niekamp (St. Henry) has
recieved first team honors. Niekamp, the Conference player of
the year, lead the Crusaders to the OAC Regular-Season title.
Neikamp ranks among the top of the Conference with 15.3 points and
5.5 rebounds-per-game.
Mount Union sophomore Nate Jacubec
(Struthers) and Baldwin Wallace junior Kyle
Payne (Brunswick) have been named to the third team.
Jacubec helped the Purple Raiders to OAC Tournament finals as the
No. 4 seed and finished the season averaging 14.4 points, 4.9
rebounds and 1.3 steals-per-game. For his efforts he was selected
All-OAC Second Team. Payne led the Yellow Jackets and ranked among
the top of the Conference with 16.6 points and 6.2
rebounds-per-game. Payne was named All-OAC First Team.
Mount Union freshman Jarrett Ruffin
(Northfield/Nordonia) was selected as the Great Lakes
Region Rookie of the Year, to go along with his OAC Freshman of the
Year honor. Ruffin averaged 9.6 points and a team-best 5.4
rebound-per-game in 27 games.
