Otterbein’s Meadows and Marietta’s Toth Named ABCA/Rawlings Div. III All-Americans; Marietta’s Hopper selected Gold Glove

Otterbein senior utility player Wes Meadows (Marion/Ridgedale) earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American First-Team honors. Meadows, the 2013 OAC Player of the Year, was also named the ABCA Mideast Region Player of the Year and selected D3baseball.com First Team  All-American.

Meadows led the conference in batting average (.420), home runs (10) walks (31), slugging percentage (.748) and on-base percentage (.527). He also set a new school record with a 26-game hitting streak.

On the mound, Meadows went  6-1, with a 3.09 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 48.1 innings.

Marietta seniors  catcher Alex Toth (Painesville/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and outfielder Aaron Hopper (Wheelersburg) also received recognition.  Toth was named to the third team, while Hopper earned Gold Glove recognition for his play in the outfield.

Toth also was named D3baseball.com Second Team All-American and led the Pioneers with a .413 batting average and 20 doubles. He was second on the team with 69 base hits and 40 runs batted in. With only eight strikeouts in 167 at bats, Toth was the toughest hitter to strikeout in the OAC.
