2013 OAC Women's Tennis Tournament

Ohio Northern will host the 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Women’s Tennis Championship Tuesday-Saturday, April 30-May 4. Eight teams competed in the quarterfinals finals on campus sites on Tuesday.  The four remaining teams will via for the 2013 Tournament title.  The semifinals on Friday and the finals on Saturday will be held at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The semifinals will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the finals will be at 2:00 p.m.

This season Ohio Northern earned its third OAC Regular-Season Title a perfect 9-0 OAC record and earned the #1 seed. The Polar Bears advanced with a 5-0 win over #8 Muskingum and will take on #4 John Carroll (5-4) in the semifinals.

In singles play, ONU is led by junior Michelle Tuma (Cobourg,Ont.) at the #1 position (5-3), freshman Christina Corbean (Dayton/Oakwood) at the #2 position (6-1) and freshman Meghan Letizia (Dublin/Coffman) at the #3 spot (7-0).

Tuma and freshman Rachael Miller (Columbus, Ind,/North) teamed up for a 7-1 record at #1 doubles.

John Carroll defeated #5 Capital to advance to the semifinals. The Blue Streaks will looks to freshman Catherine Engel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) at #1 position with a 3-4 OAC record, along with freshman Anna Stein (St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) at the #2 spot with a 3-4 record and sophomore Tracy Gibson (South Park, Pa./Pine-Richland) with a 5-2 record at the #3 slot.

Gibson and Stein teamed up for 4-4 OAC record at #2 doubles.

Otterbein claimed the #2 seed in this year’s tournament with an 8-1 OAC mark. The Cardinals topped #7 Marietta, 5-0, in the quarterfinals.

Junior Julie Stroyne (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) at the #1 single position and freshman Sammi Kruger (Cincinnati/Sycamore) at the #2 position both tallied a perfect 9-0 OAC record this season. The pair teamed up for a 7-2 doubles record at the #1 spot.

Sophomore Emma Krummel (Richfield/Archbishop Hoban) and Adrien Leatherwood (Ashville/Teays Valley) went 9-0 at #2 doubles.

Mount Union earned the #3 seed with a 7-2 OAC record and topped #6 Heidelberg, 5-0, in quarterfinal action. The Purple Raiders are led by sophomore Mackenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) at the #1 singles position with a 6-2 league record, along with sophomore Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) at the #2 slot with a 6-2 record and junior Megan Czuchra (Mantua/ Crestwood) at the #3 spot with a 6-2 record.

Wise teamed up with sophomore Taylor Dowling (Canton/Massillon Jackson) for a 5-1 OAC record at the #3 doubles position. Czuchra and junior Lauren Oliver (Chagrin Falls) tallied a 4-2 OAC record at #2 doubles.
