RECAP: NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

 

BRIMINGHAM, Alabama— 28 Ohio Athletic Conference athletes competed in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP PAGERESULTS

 

Event Highlights:

Baldwin Wallace

Hope Murphy earned All-American status with a sixth place finish in the 800-Meter run with a time of 2:14.48.

Christian Pfeiffer finished 15th in the high jump, clearing 1.89m (6' 6").

 

Mount Union

Kenadee Wayt earned her first national championship, winning the 200-Meters in a time of 24.31. Her time is the third fastest 200-Meters in Division III history. Wayt is the third women's track and field individual Champion for Mount Union.

Wayt earned All-American honors in four events: 60, 200 400 and 4x400-Meter relay. She placed third in the 400-Meters (55.55) and 4th place in the 60-Meters (7.66).

Madison Miles placed seventh in the 400-Meters with time of a 56.69, earning All-American status.

The group of Madison Miles, Kenadee Wayt, Mary Mason and Kennady Gibbibs ran a 3:48.30 in the 4x400-Meter relay, finishing fifth and earning All-American Honors.

Mount Union women finished with its best school finish in Indoor Track history at the Championships earning fifth with 32 points. Wisconsin-Lacrosse won the meet with 59.5 points.

On the men’s side, Jared Storm, Matt McBride, Justin Knoch and Tyler GIll finished runner-up in the 4x400-Meter with a 3:12.05, earning All-American Honors.
 
Storm and McBride also earned All-American honors in the 400-Meters as Storm placed sixth (47.93) and McBride placed eighth (48.17).

 

John Carroll

Basheer Alramahi finished third 400m dash final, earning All-American honors with a time of 47.79.

Alex Phillip ran a 8:02.46 in the 3000-Meter final to earn National Runner-Up and All-American Track & Field Honors for the eighth time in his career. Phillip also placed national-runner up in the 5000-Meter with his time of 13:52.29.

Max Grillo, Mick Doyle, Caleb Correia and Ethan Domitrovich placed eighth in the Distance Medley relay with a time of 9:51.50, earning All-American honors.

Mick Doyle, Garrett Clark, Tyler Gast and Basheer Alramahi placed sixth overall and achieved All-American Honors in the 4x400-Meter relay with their time of 3:13.33. The time was the seventh fastest time in DIII Indoor National Championships history. Clark and Alramahi’s splits of 46.757 and 47.124 were the fastest two splits in the entire field.

John Carroll finished sixth overall with 26 points, which is the best finish in program history. Wisconsin-Lacrosse won the meet with 35 points.

 

Ohio Northern

Keegan Digby earned All-American honors in the shot put with his fourth place finish of 16.98 meters.

 

Otterbein

Peyton Proffitt finished third and earned All-American honors in the pole vault, clearing 3.95 meters (12-11.5).

Cal Yakin ran a 4:18 in the mile prelims on Friday, finishing 18th nationally.

 

Wilmington

Simon Heys earned All-American honors as he finished fifth in the 5,000-Meter run with a time of 14:11.96. Heys also finished 15th in the 3,000-Meter run final with a time of 8:24.01.

JJ Durr placed 15th in the weight throw with a distance of 17.95 meters (58' 10.75").
