Chicone, Frazier and Parker Named to D3Hoops Preseason Men's All-America Teams

 

D3Hoops.com Preseason All-America 

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Three Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball players have been named to the D3Hoops.com Preseason All-America Teams.

John Carroll senior point Guard Luke Chicone makes the D3hoops.com Preseason All-American list for the second straight year. After a fourth team preseason selection, Chicone had a fantastic junior season and a second team All-America selection as JCU swept the Ohio Athletic Conference titles.

Last season, Chicone finished fourth in the OAC with 18.7 points per game and second in the OAC with 5.2 assists per game. Chicone also registered one of the best Division III marks in assist/turnover ratio (3.17). Additionally, Chicone accumulated 2.24 steals per game last season, which was second in the conference and fourth in program history.  Chicone also stood as the OAC Player of the Year, First Team All-OAC, and an OAC All-Tournament Team choice, plus First Team NABC All-District and First Team D3hoops.com All-Region honoree.

John Carroll senior guard Luke Frazier earns his first All-American honor despite garnering both NABC All-District and D3hoops.com All-Region honors.

Frazier finished third in the OAC with 18.9 points per game last season. Frazier also ranked in the top ten in the conference in both rebounds per game (6.3) and blocks per game (1.4). The 6'6 guard secured Tournament MVP honors after playing a starring role in JCU's OAC Tournament run. Frazier stood as a First-Team All-OAC honoree at year's end. Frazier is closing in on 1,000 career points at John Carroll. 

Mount Union fifth-year senior Christian Parker is coming off a season where he was named a D3hoops.com Second Team All-American.

Parker played and started in all 27 games for the Purple Raiders, averaging 20.3 points and 9.1 rebounds, both led the team. He also recorded a team-high 47 blocks and was third on the team in steals with 29. Parker was also named First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and became the All-Time Leading Scorer at the University of Mount Union and broke the career record for blocks this season. He was also named NABC First Team All-District 7, D3hoops.com All-Region 7 First Team and NABC Third Team All-America.

John Carroll opens the season on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10 with matchups against Albertus Magnus and Penn State Harrisburg in Middletown, PA at the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Classic. Mount Union begins the season on November 8 at home against Yeshiva University.
