John Carroll Predicted to Win OAC Men's Cross Country Title
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – John Carroll has been tabbed as the favorite to win the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference men’s cross country title, as voted on by the league coaches.
John Carroll will look to carry on its momentum from a historical season in 2023. Last season, the Blue Streaks won a third-straight OAC Championship, a third-straight NCAA Regional Championship, and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, where they finished 20th. Ryan Champa became the sixth Cross Country All-American in John Carroll history, placing 37th individually.
John Carroll will be led by Daniel Tutskey, who has been promoted to Director of Cross Country and Track and Field. For the past four seasons, Tutskey served as the associate head coach for track & field and an assistant coach for cross country. Former head coach Kyle Basista recently moved on to Yale University to serve as the head men's cross country coach and assistant men's track & field coach.
Across Tutskey’s four seasons, John Carroll has notched 28 OAC Championships, 35 school records, 44 All-Americans, 56 national qualifiers, 113 All-Region honorees and 134 All-OAC performances, among many other accolades.
The Blue Streaks will open the season on Friday, Aug. 3 at the Bill Sudeck Invitational in Hunting Valley, Ohio, hosted by Case Western Reserve University.
