GENEVA, Ohio -- Wilmington College senior Nathen Borgan won the Men's Hammer Throw at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 22-24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Borgan entered the Hammer Throw competition Saturday afternoon as the favorite after finishing as the runner up last season and posting the longest mark of this season heading into the event.

He took over first place on his second throw with a toss of 63.34m and never relinquished it en route to the title. Borgan improved on his mark two times throughout the competition, with tosses of 64.47m on his third throw and his eventual winning mark of 64.74m. He joins senior teammate JJ Durr as the only Quakers to ever win a National Championship in a throwing event in Wilmington College history, as Durr won the Weight Throw indoors earlier this season. Borgan becomes the fourth male student-athlete at Wilmington College to win a National Championship.
