No. 24 Baldwin Wallace Claims Sixth Straight OAC Wrestling Championship

The Ohio Athletic Conference crowned a familiar champion as No. 24 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University secured its sixth consecutive OAC Wrestling Championship with a 27-15 victory over No. 21 Ohio Northern in Berea.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets completed an undefeated run through conference dual competition for the sixth straight season, finishing 6-0 in OAC action. Baldwin Wallace has now captured 10 of the last 11 OAC titles and extended its conference dual meet winning streak to 45 matches.

Baldwin Wallace (12-6, 6-0 OAC) clinched the championship with a balanced team effort that featured multiple bonus-point victories. At 133 pounds, freshman Chase Creque opened BW’s momentum with a 15-0 technical fall. Senior Manny Scordos added an 11-2 major decision at 149 pounds, and junior Andrew Supers, ranked No. 4 nationally, delivered a 17-2 technical fall at 165 pounds.

The Yellow Jackets continued to build separation in the upper weights. Senior Tommy West, ranked No. 10 nationally, earned a 13-0 major decision at 174 pounds, while Remington Bauer secured a 19-4 technical fall at 184 pounds. Sophomore Andy Vanscoy sealed the team victory with a 14-3 major decision at heavyweight. Ohio Northern (14-4, 5-1 OAC) finished second in the conference standings for the fourth consecutive season.

Baldwin Wallace will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 14, when it travels to University Heights to compete in the John Carroll Open.
