Preseason Poll Tabs Capital as Women's Soccer Favorite

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital, under the direction of 12th-year Head Coach Matt Ogden, has been picked by the league coaches to win the Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer title in 2026.

The Comets topped the poll with 57 points, backed by four of the nine possible first-place votes. Ohio Northern followed close behind in second place with 52 points and one first-place vote, while Wilmington claimed third with 50 points and three first-place votes. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.

The Comets are coming off a 9-6-3 campaign in 2025, going 4-2-2 in conference play to share the OAC Regular-Season crown. Their season ended in the OAC Tournament semifinals, where they were edged by Wilmington in overtime.

Capital opens its 2026 slate at home against Denison University on Tuesday, September 1, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
