WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Northern was tabbed as the favorite to win the 2025 Ohio Athletic Conference Title by the leagues’ head coaches.
The Polar Bears received seven of the nine first place votes, tallying 63 points to claim the top spot in the preseason poll while Capital was picked second after securing the final two first place votes and 56 points. Otterbein followed the Comets in third securing 45 points with Wilmington slated for fourth, receiving 41 points. Heidelberg rounded out the top five with 38 points. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Ohio Northern finished the 2024 season with a 15-6-1 overall record with an 8-1 mark in OAC play. The Polar Bears hoisted their third OAC Tournament title in four years and their sixth overall crown with a 3-2 win over John Carroll. Earning the OAC’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, they defeated No. 25 Sewanee 2-0 before falling in the second round. ONU opens their season on Sunday, August 31st at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 3 p.m.
