Mount Union Picked to Finish First in Softball Preseason Poll

Mount Union, under the direction of tenth-year Head Coach Meghan Simons, has been picked by the league coaches to win the Ohio Athletic Conference softball title in 2026.

Mount Union received sixth of 9 first place votes to collect 61 points. Baldwin Wallace and Muskingum received two first place and one first place votes, with 54 and 53 points, respectively. Marietta lands in the fourth spot with 34 points, followed by Ohio Northern with 32 points. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.

The Purple Raiders finished the 2025 season with a 28-14 overall record and were second in the OAC with a 13-5 mark in conference play. They won the OAC Tournament championship and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.

The Purple Raiders will open the season with a 10 a.m. start Friday, March 6th against LaGrange University at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, GA.
